Yes, proofreading is a risky business as you really have to prove that any correction you make is justified. There is certainly a risk of being accused of changing things to reflect our own style and preferences and not to correct mistakes, and the only way to convince both the translator and the customer is to deliver:

A) Review marks.

B) Well-documented explanations of the main errors, with links to sources both the translator and the customer can refer to in case of doubt.
